Coming To Clancy’s Fish Pub Dunsborough, catch UB40 live.
UB40 Featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey’s new album ‘A Real Labour Of Love’. The album reached #2 on the UK Album Chart and #1 on the Billboard Reggae Chart, with the album. This is the band’s highest chart entry since 1993’s #1 ‘Promises And Lies’. The band is better than ever with new songs and their usual
The next single to be taken from ‘A Real Labour Of Love’ was ‘How Could I Leave’, released in April. ‘How Could I Leave’ is a fresh interpretation of a 1977 classic from the Crown Prince of Reggae Dennis Brown. The eargasmic tune is sure to be a hit.
Britain’s biggest reggae band UB40 features singer Ali Campbell, second vocalist Astro and keyboardist Mickey Virtue. The band has topped the UK singles chart on three occasions and sold 70 million records. Their distinct sound features a musical blend.
They have given older songs a fresh spin and have brought old favourites such as ‘Cherry Oh Baby’, ‘Kingston Town’ and Johnny Osbourne’s ‘Come Back Darling’ to a new, global crowd. They also hit number one on both sides of the Atlantic with their reggae cover of Neil Diamond’s ‘Red Red Wine’.
‘A Real Labour Of Love’ brings back the old with something new. It’s a new take primarily on reggae tracks from the 1980s.
The song ‘A Real Labour Of Love’ was produced by Ali, whose instantly recognisable voice is augmented by the ‘sing-jay’ vocal style of Astro. Sadly, ‘A Real Labour Of Love’ also marks the passing of long-serving trombonist John Johnson. A former member of Simply Red who joined forces with Ali seven years ago.
The album is dedicated to him.
