Enjoy these exciting events at Margaret River this April. These are just some of the Western Australia Events and Festivals to look forward to.

Margaret River Region Open Studios

Enjoy the Margaret River Region Open Studios from 27 April 2019 – 12 May 2019. This event is free. The Margaret River Region Open Studios, a unique 16-day event, features a trail of discovery for all art lovers. With over 130+ artists participating, this is the most significant event of it’s kind.

Artists and artisans are anticipated to open the doors to their art studios and workshops, giving a unique experience for art lovers to interact with the creator of the artwork, observe original artworks and of course, purchase artwork. Work may include sculpture, hand-blown glass, painting, printmaking, handmade furniture, drawings, as well as jewellery, ceramics, textiles and many more.

There will be venues across Margaret River, Augusta, Busselton, Vasse, Quindalup, Dunsborough, Yallingup, Cowaramup which will be shown on maps so visitors can follow their art trails.

Entry is free. Art lovers are welcome to take part.

This event will encompass the whole of the Margaret River Wine Region.

Each open studio will be indicated on a detailed map in a collectable 2018 Event Catalogue which will be available online on the run-up to the event. Have fun following your favourite art trail.

The Festival Of Love – Leeuwin Estate

Don’t miss The Festival of Love on 27 April 2019 @ 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. The radiant and lovely bridal fair will be highlighting a fresh selection of in-demand vendors from stylists and caterers to musical performers and celebrants.

The Festival of Love aims to provide all the inspiration you will ever need for the planning of your wedding. Walk the grounds of the iconic LEEUWIN ESTATE, enjoy high fashion runway shows, rub elbows with the top players in the wedding industry, enjoy lunch with your nearest and dearest – and spend a delightful day with your family, friends or wedding party.

There will be Runway Shows featuring West Australian designers such as Harriette Gordon, Loui Col Designs, Through the White Door and many more.

Songs And Tales Of Angry Old Men

Enjoy the show on 5 April 2019. The show honours rock-n-roll and the songs that captured great moments throughout the decades.

Presenting more than 20 great rock songs told with tales that reveal surprising anecdotes behind the songs. Audiences can enjoy music from iconic artists including Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, Jim Morrison, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young.

The show features the greatest tunes that marked an era. The show, from the writer and producer of Pearl – The Janis Joplin Story, seeks to highlight some of the most memorable music ever made by the singers and songwriters who have left their mark in history.

The show will be led by Jeremy Edwards and Matt Ross performing vocals and guitar; backed by Wayne Kellett, Di Solomon and George Brugmans.

The finest musicians take centre stage. It’s exciting to see the group perform in action. Expect a solid night of entertainment that will celebrate the classic creative artistry of these fabulous and extraordinary male legends of rock. Don’t miss the show!

Vintage Portraits | Classic Paintings at Vasse Felix

Don’t miss Vintage Portraits from 17 February 2019 @ 10:00 am – 26 May 2019 @ 5:00 pm. This is a free event.

With a long and widely-recognised career, Photographer Richard Woldendorp has captured beautiful landscape, amazing aerial and emotional portraiture.

While he is famous for his geographic aerial images, this exhibition shines the spotlight on the human element, displaying recently obtained portraiture photographs of well-known Western Australian artists and matching them with the works of those artists from the Janet Holmes à Court Collection.

The Artists include Tom Gibbons, Guy Grey-Smith, William Boissevain, Robert Juniper, Brian McKay, George Haynes, Kathleen O’Connor and Hal Missingham.

Don’t miss the show to be held at Vasse Felix.

Deep Listening Festival

Enjoy the Deep Listening Festival from 5 April 2019 @ 8:00 am – 6 April 2019 @ 5:00 pm. The Deep Listening Festival returns this April with a brand-new theme and a stellar line-up of speakers.

The Festival seeks to explore what it means to live in a society of acceptance and harmony through story-telling, music, art and the chance to hear from inspirational speakers and share stories. The Festival offers an extraordinary collection of presenters, speakers, and artists who will talk about the ‘Finding a place to call home’ theme. The festival touches on areas of homelessness and multiculturalism in particular.

The Festival will showcase an art exhibition from local artists Jenny Sanderson, Elaine Clocherty, Ian Dowling, and Christopher Williamson, as well as a live music performance by the Charis Ensemble, a female vocal group.

The program will have a series of workshops such as ‘The Inner Home’ as well as ‘Building Bridges Across Cultures’ and ‘R U House Ready?’ It will also have the ‘Cuppa With…’ sessions, which are friendly and informal chats with the presenters.

The event will be held in Western Australia.
