Blessed with a fascinating variety of flora and fauna, the Margaret River region is counted among the top ten bio-diversity hotspots in the world. From breathtaking seascapes to lush forests, the scenic spots close to our pet friendly accommodation Margaret River are plentiful. Here’s just a small selection of the nature reserves and beauty spots we recommend you check out during your stay.

Ambergate Nature Reserve

Located within an hour’s drive of our holiday accommodation Margaret River, this stunning reserve park protects 75 hectares of scrublands and woodlands along the coastal plains. The 4km trail is surrounded by colourful wildflowers in the spring, but there are opportunities to spot rare flora and fauna throughout the year, including parrots, honey eaters, woodswallows and ring tailed possums.

Sugarloaf Rock

Sculpted by the waves over thousands of years, this gigantic towering rock formation in the Indian Ocean is one of the region’s most distinctive landmarks. A must-visit destination for keen photographers, Sugarloaf Rock is within easy reach of our pet friendly accommodation Margaret River. For the best views of the rock, climb to the slightly elevated lookout spot to peer out over the tumbling seas below. This spot is also a birdwatchers and wildlife lover’s paradise, with bottlenose dolphins and many rare species of sea birds making their home here.

Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park

Perched alongside the Indian Ocean, this stunning National Park features secluded sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and striking rock formations. Situated within easy driving distance of our Margaret River winery accommodation, the park is a great place to spot dolphins and humpback whales during the breeding season (between June and December).
