The Leeuwin Concert 2019 with Paul Kelly

Legendary Australian singer, songwriter, and musician, Paul Kelly leads the line-up of the 35th yearly Leeuwin Concert held in Margaret River, Western Australia. Honoured in the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1997, Paul Kelly has made over 21 studio albums, two live albums and numerous film soundtracks in a successful musical career that has lasted over thirty years. His sellout live performances, as well as 2017′s fantastic Sydney Opera House forecourts concert, receive universal acclaim.

Paul Kelly’s songbook includes hits that are deeply rooted in the Australian psyche including ‘To Her Door’, ‘Before Too Long’, “From Little Things, Big Things Grow’ and ‘Darling It Hurts’. Following up 2017′s ‘Life is Fine’, one of Kelly’s most remarkable and moving albums, October 2018 saw the release of ‘Nature’. Nature is an album featuring poems from literary giants such as Sylvia Plath, Walt Whitman, Dylan Thomas, and Philip Larkin backed by a rock’n’roll soundtrack.

As an artist who continues to meld musical genres, Paul Kelly has had a powerful influence on generations of musicians. The triple j album, ‘Before Too Long’, featuring John Butler, Megan Washington, Paul Dempsey, Missy Higgins, and many others is a testament to that. David Fricke from Rolling Stone has called Paul Kelly as one of the finest songwriters he has ever heard.

The 2019 Leeuwin Concert will also have the Art Series Marquee party. While dancing to the tune of The Milford Street Shakers, guests can enjoy the traditional post-concert ‘Arena Party’ The famed Leeuwin Concerts began in 1985 when Leeuwin Estate gave financial support for the
Australian tour of London Philharmonic Orchestra. Known as ‘the most extraordinary concert ever held in Australia’, the Leeuwin Concert Series has had a productive 34-year run.

They have shown a spotlight on an eclectic mix of the world’s most talented musicians and entertainers including Ray Charles, Sting, Roxy Music, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Tom Jones, James Galway, John Farnham, Jackson Browne, Carole King, Diana Krall, Diana Ross, Chris Isaak, and James Taylor. A leading event in Australia’s cultural calendar, tourists from across Australia and around the world make the expedition to the Margaret River vineyard, dressed in anything from tuxedos to t-shirts.

As the sun sets and a fiery glow bathes karri forest, music surrounds the natural amphitheatre, Leeuwin’s famed kookaburras begin their cackling chorus to the wonderment of guests and entertainers who are in for one hell of a show. Augusta River Festival

The Augusta River Festival is a unique family-oriented event held at the beautiful Blackwood River. It’s an eventful day with a jam-packed program of events. There is no shortage of activities to keep the kids engaged. With over 60 stall holders, there will be local artisan retail, community stalls, and children’s activities in store. A licensed Lion’s area nearby allows the adults to rest their feet and relax.

The famous Blackwood Regatta makes a comeback, with a focus on sustainability. Recycled materials will be used to build water rafts. Apart from all the water-based action, a stellar line up of music and entertainment will thrill the crowd. Catch the fireworks set against the gorgeous Blackwood River – a truly fantastic display.

Cape Mentelle Movies

The Movies at Cape Mentelle season will begin on 14 December 2018 and will continue until 23 March 2019.

Vintage Portraits | Classic Paintings @ Vasse Felix

Don’t miss the show from 17 February to 26 May 2019.

With a successful and highly acclaimed career, Photographer Richard Woldendorp has captured stunning landscape, amazing aerial and eye-catching portraiture photography. While he is most famous for his aerial images, this exhibition centres on the human element, displaying his latest portraiture photographs of well-known Western Australian artists and complementing them with works of those artists from the Janet Holmes à Court Collection.

Artists include William Boissevain, Tom Gibbons, Robert Juniper, Brian McKay, Kathleen O’Connor, Guy Grey-Smith, George Haynes, and Hal Missingham. Head over to Vasse Felix and enjoy the exhibition.

Butterfingers – 15 Years Of Fatboys Tour

Enjoy the show on 28 March 2019 at Dunsborough Tavern.

With their years of experience, tongue-in-cheek humour, and an undeniable sense of musical talent, Butterfingers are excited to bring their hit album Breakfast At Fatboys back out on the road in 2019. They have also declared that the classic album will be released on orange vinyl for the first time in years along with the tour.

Eager to kick things off, Evil Eddie says they are stoked to hit the road again. It has been 15 years of playing good music. They are eager to meet their fans and play music which includes tunes from their first album. Newer songs and old favourites merge in their set. Butterfingers are mainstays in the live scene of the Aussie hip-hop world.
