UB40 Featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey’s new album ‘A Real Labour Of Love’. The album reached #2 on the UK Album Chart and #1 on the Billboard Reggae Chart, with the album. This is the band’s highest chart entry since 1993’s #1 ‘Promises And Lies’. The band is better than ever with new songs and their usual
stellar performance.

The next single to be taken from ‘A Real Labour Of Love’ was ‘How Could I Leave’, released in April. ‘How Could I Leave’ is a fresh interpretation of a 1977 classic from the Crown Prince of Reggae Dennis Brown. The eargasmic tune is sure to be a hit.

Britain’s biggest reggae band UB40 features singer Ali Campbell, second vocalist Astro and keyboardist Mickey Virtue. The band has topped the UK singles chart on three occasions and sold 70 million records. Their distinct sound features a musical blend.

They have given older songs a fresh spin and have brought old favourites such as ‘Cherry Oh Baby’, ‘Kingston Town’ and Johnny Osbourne’s ‘Come Back Darling’ to a new, global crowd. They also hit number one on both sides of the Atlantic with their reggae cover of Neil Diamond’s ‘Red Red Wine’.
‘A Real Labour Of Love’ brings back the old with something new. It’s a new take primarily on reggae tracks from the 1980s.

The song ‘A Real Labour Of Love’ was produced by Ali, whose instantly recognisable voice is augmented by the ‘sing-jay’ vocal style of Astro. Sadly, ‘A Real Labour Of Love’ also marks the passing of long-serving trombonist John Johnson. A former member of Simply Red who joined forces with Ali seven years ago.
The album is dedicated to him.

Cockfight by The Farm

Written by Administrator on . Posted in Blog

Two power players in one office, an older and a younger gentleman, battle it out. Hilarious and edgy, Cockfight by The Farm is a farcical comedy about competition that builds up to an emotional climax. The generational gap is exposed as each man fights for his territory even in the pettiest of ways. The need to prove yourself along with the need to hold on to what you’ve got creates a generational clash that is a sight to see. Cockfight explores the power struggle, the desperation to fight against age and the extreme drive to achieve.

Cockfight by The Farm
Physical and emotional, biting, dark and edgy yet tender at times, the dynamic movment and the slow-mo fight sequences create a one of a kind dance theatre experience by the newly formed Gold Coast/Berlin company The Farm. Long-time creative collaborators Joshua Thomson and Gavin Webber fight to be in charge.

Two performers. One stage. Age versus youth.

Cockfight was nominated for two Helpmann Awards in 2016, for Best Ballet or Dance Work and Best Male Dancer in a Dance or Physical Theatre Work.

At The Farm, everyone brings something to the table. All animals are equal.

“Sidesplittingly hilarious and beautifully athletic and graceful.” ABC Arts

“Physical theatre at its most extreme: bodies slam into walls and office furniture, and perilous interlocking rolls, tackles and lunges fling performers through space.” The Australian
